EPISODE SUMMARY:

  • Debi and I begin our chat talking about how women deal with betrayal. She talks about the different stages it takes to transform and heal from betrayal.
    • “You can stay stuck for years, decades, a lifetime but if you’re going to go through that transformation, you’re going to go through these five very predictable stages.” – Dr. Debi Silber

  • There are four parts of us that need attending to: the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. Debi says what she has seen women focus on most is the physical and mental parts but forget to take care of the emotional and spiritual.
    • “If there are four legs of a table and we are only strengthening two, it’s really easy to topple over.” – Dr. Debi Silber

  • Our darkest times can be our greatest gifts. Our mind can talk us out of anything but what if you just trusted what was currently happening and went with it? Debi shares a time when she hit rock bottom and her logical part was telling her what she “should” be doing while her spiritual part was telling her, “What if this was something you need?” So, what if your rock bottom will lead you to something greater?
  • Write a coherent narrative for yourself. Debi invites everyone to do this and it can be very healing! It allows you to take your story and make meaning of it so it becomes a pivotal chapter of your story.
    • “I can stay stuck forever but I can rebuild!” – Dr. Debi Silber

  • We also talk about forgiveness. When it comes to forgiveness, think about the if/then rule. If you feel safe and valued and you forgive, you feel better. If you do not feel safe and valued and forgive, you feel worse. So how do you feel when you’re forgiving somebody?
    • “Forgiveness is a gift you truly give yourself but it’s just a word until you do it!” – Dr. Debi Silber
